Traffic filtering due to DNS settings changing malware
27.11.2009There has been recent reports about malware that changes computers' DNS settings to point to rogue servers in an attempt to hijack e.g. online banking connections.
Several authorities (including CERT-FI and Funet CERT) have suggested ISPs to filter out traffic to two networks blocks 85.255.112.0/20 and 67.210.14.0/23 which hosts malicious DNS serves and other criminal activity. TOASnet has followed this practise, if this causes problems to your legitime network usage please give a detailed description to network administration.
Valid DNS servers in TOASnet have addresses beginning with 94.237.0. If your computer displays any other DNS settings and you do not have any router, switch or WiFi AP between your computer and wall socket, please contact to administrators.
In Windows OS user can check DNS settings by opening the Command Prompt (cmd.exe) and typing ipconfig /all.
Connection Agreement updated
12.8.2009The TOASnet Connection Agreement and Terms of Use have been updated. There is no notable changes to contents, updates are done to reflect the network's current status after the network reform.
Network problems recently? Check your DNS settings
7.4.2009The old TOASnet core network was shut down during the weekend and all remaining services were moved to a new network. As a result, old static DNS server address work no longer. If you have network problems, please verify from your TCP/IP settings that DNS servers are obtained automatically and there is no static settings (any addresses beginning with 193.166 or 86.50).
